Grupo Folklórico

Cuzcatlan provides training in Ballet Folklórico for children, teens and young adults of all ages and dance expreience. Beginners focus on basic elements of rhythm, posture, etiquette, and discipline. After mastering these skills, the students move on to learn choreographies, skirt movements, and turns.  Advanced and exceptionally talented students travel with the dance company to various performances throughout the tri-state area. GF Cuzcatlan has performed at many prestegious cultural and civic events such as the Berkshire Festival in Massachusetts, Salvadorian Day in Long Island and most recently at Senator Bob Menendez Hispanic Heritage Celebration. 

Expression through the arts in a supportive non-threatening environment not only nourishes the human spirit, but can enhance communication, problem-solving skills, reduce violence and build self-esteem.  GF Cuzcatlan encourages involvement of parents in students' lives, reduces students' isolation anxiety, builds trust through interaction with instructors, fosters students' interests in new subjects, and provides students with customized instruction.  These invaluable benefits increase the likelihood that youth graduate from high school and become productive self sufficient residents of the community.
